Praise Jesus Buddy

It’s another Vegas Friday and this time the boys brought a friend.  Legendary outlaw comic and Las Vegas resident Ron Shock stops by the show to share some of his gambling techniques, what he loves and hates about the 15 years he’s spent in the valley, and why blowing a guy in front of a crowd of people is sometimes your best option.

Other topics include, over the hill musicians who insist on calling themselves “boys”, Tommy Dutch’s dreams of dimentia, why you should never trust a Hungarian mover, and don’t get too close to Britt’s bottle.  Hang on to this buddy!

If that link doesn’t work, it is also listed on this page – http://www.sportstalk980.com/cc-common/podcast.html. You have to scroll down to “THE SPORTS REPORTERS” section. Right now its the first piece in that section.

    Station is Sprts Talk 980.
Andy Polin you may remember back from when The Tony Kornheiser Show was a national ESPN radio product.
Steve Czabin is another DC guy, but has is own national show on FOX radio. At one time it was on the air in Vegas in the way early morning (5:00 am or some such time). Not sure if he’s still on the air out there or not.

    Cheers!

Have a great weekend everyone. I’m off to Lake Havasu then to perform in the thriving metropolis of Laughlin Nevada. Damn, I need an agent.

Brian – the name ‘Laughlin’ (i know its prolly pronounced differently) indicates you could well get shyteloads of laughs… have fun with it…!!!

Brian, sorry to hear you’re going to Laughlin – I went there once, it felt like I was the only person under 70 in the entire town. I’m assuming, like me, your being sent there as punishement for something you did in a previous life.

And Brian, I’ve also seen Seinfeld live. Basically if you add up all the little bits of standup at the start and end of the sitcom shows you get his main act. Add in fifteen minutes of Q&A at the end – which is mostly people saying do another show, or say “Hello, Newman” and that’s the show.

That said, I loved the show – but I liked the sitcom.

    Never did get Seinfeld.
Bmo – What do you think of the British Comic Lee Evans?
And who is your favourite English Comic of all time?
Good luck at Laughlin if what EnglishBob says is true it might be easy for you to kill as they are already one foot in the grave!

“Fuck you Hungarian Man put your shirt on and go home”
Really have to ask if you think thats the kind of way to speak to somebody after you have been making sweet sweet love!

Also If my new neighbour turned up at my door with a gun and calling me all sorts of muthfa fucker. I think I would load all my shit back into the truck and move in somewhere else!!!
I mean he is not going to invite you round for a friendly neighbourly drink is he?
And if he did what would you do? If you turn up he might shoot you and bury you in desert and if you dont he might shoot you and…………..
    No Win situation

I think TAI should jump on the “Ban Printers” bandwagon as soon as possible. According to this article: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/36077 ,

“Now a controlled study is confirming the information, saying that 30 percent of all laser printers tested emit dangerous particles described as “causing lasting damage on the scale of inhaled cigarette smoke.” These tiny particles lodge deep in the lungs and can lead to anything from lung irritation to full-on cancer.”

I propose turning all Kinko’s into smoking lounges.

Without saying too much (mainly because I can’t — contractual obligations) I have some pretty close knowledge about how the computer security works in casinos, and they have very little to worry about from the Hacker’s convention.

Chimexico? More B-Mo geography. Is that north of Norwazil or east of Taiwortugal?

And again, the Hell Gig story just kills me.

Oh, and Mullets Rock! (Just ask this guy: http://tinyurl.com/3ctqww) You have to give rednecks their due — those meth-heads manage to perform chemistry that most pre-med students couldn’t handle.

And finally, prayers for those affected by the bridge collapse.

    That is all.

BMo – I think that your interview subject just proclaimed the standard to which all men everywhere should judge wether or not their night was a good one, “I’m still conscious and I don’t have a dick in my mouth.” Really, even if you’ve had a shitty night and you struck out at the bars or you lost your bankroll at the table just knowing that there is a man somewhere that once had an evening so bad that both of those things almost couldn’t be uttered by him in the morning.

    Hilarious!

Greetings from Northwest Ohio and thanks for the shoutout during the show.

Ace I second that Billy is very funny.
Not had the chance to listen to any of bmo stuff yet, where can I hear some of that.

Brian, BTW – I guessed Binion’s, Check out Episode #89 post #44. I’m pleased you picked it as your #5.

Dutch, Binion’s was sold recently to the Owner of the Four Queens, which is a decent place to gamble. So, no need to harrah’s hate it anymore.

Lee Evans is a funny guy. I think my favorite Brittish comic right now is Jimmy Carr, although you have to give love to Eddie Izzard. The first solo stand up comic to really break through here. If you’re interested, last month on btb we showcased only Brittish comics. Carr, Izzard, Connolly Scottish), and Ricky Gervais. PS, my kind of vacation. Room has free wi-fi so I can still get my message board thrills.

I’m just catching up with some of the past message postings including those on ‘old school’ beers in the US.

Patch, excellent job digging up Schmidt. It took me way back to before drinking age.

A six pack of beers had all different cans (see link below):
    http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=448998&image=61606381&images=61606381,61606386,61606394&formats=0,0,0&format=0

Another beer no one mentioned (possibily because it was confined to the nothern mid-west, was Grain Belt Beer. It was horrible.

JimInTex brought forward Pearl and Richie you said you never heard of it. Lucky you. If you download the David Allen Coe song “If that ain’t Country (I’ll kiss your ass)”, it not only name checks Pearl but also captures its entire flavor in song. However, I recommend you save the download fee.

I know this post is late and I’ll get a ball-busting, but what the hell.

FYI Harrah’s dose not own Binion’s casino they bought it then sold it MTR group. Harrah’s retains the Horseshoe name and the World Series of Poker

I have also heard MTR group is mow selling Binion’s to the owner of The four Queens and the plan to renivat Binions.

Tommy maybe Bionion’s will make it on you list next time!
Brian I hope the renivations don’t ruin Binoin’s for you!!

yeah, Tommy, your Harrah’s hating of Binions was misplaced. They only owned Binions for 3 months from Jan to March of 2004. they bought it out of bankruptcy and flipped it right away keeping only the Horseshoe and WSOP brands.

we gotta get Mr. Rose one of the TAI, “Embrace your inner dengenerate” shirts for his next camp gig. this is how i imagined Patch when he was wearing his shirt out with his kids.
from Norm’s column in the LVRJ:

Pete Rose has ruffled some feathers again, this time over his barnyard language at a U.S. Army-sponsored baseball camp for kids.

Baseball’s disgraced hit king, who signs autographs at Caesars Palace four days a week, probably “was a complete embarrassment,” Staff Sgt. Steven Tischer told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Tischer is commander of a suburban Cincinnati U.S. Army Recruiting Station that sponsored the baseball camp last month for 7- to 14-year-olds. Rose was among a group of former Reds players who participated.

“You don’t swear in front of kids, that’s just common sense,” said Tischer. “He dropped the F-bomb and the S-bomb. He told them winning is everything and if you get second place you’re just losers.”

Rose mentioned gambling, told a raunchy anecdote about seeing Joe Dimaggio in a shower and said he was upset — he used an earthier word than that — because former Reds owner Marge Schott left him out of her will.

“It was like an uncle at Thanksgiving you want to stick in a back corner,” said Renee Collins, a mother who brought her son to the camp.

Dutch, Noticed your recent post on the cheesecake episode. Usually BMO catches those posts on past episodes so you are exceeding expectations. I was busting laughing at your “It is August here” question. I have been following the Lady Grey posts the past couple of weeks and I’m not sure what to make of it. Either she is really catching up episode by episode and posting as she goes, or someone is in alias again. Either way, now that you are doing 3 episodes a week, she is still losing ground.
