I’ll buy into the cornfield karma. I post a winning NFL week and turn a nice little profit on the Rugby.

And on the flip side, I missed the live show thanks to an incident involing an early start, a cup of coffee and a laptop.

Love the show notes – good synopsis of the episode im sure. Will find out tonight wen i tune in.

English Bob – nice work on the rugby profit.

Due to the Saffas making their way into the final I am now officially supporting England.

Curious to see the lines as I may well have a bet on the final.

pmac, I have an old bet on SA to win overall so I may balance that off with a small wager on England to guarantee a return but other than that I won’t be betting on the game.

Whilst I want an England win I’m not certain my liver could take it.

Brian – Congrats on the new job. Seeing how it is now almost 9am Monday in Vegas I hope you haven’t been fired prior to me getting my congtrats in.

I hope that you will talk about the chamber on the next show – specifically about, according to their web site,

“Beginning with the first day at work, the Chamber introduces new employees to the Chamber culture that focuses on a fun, friendly, family environment. Employees are empowered to make decisions regarding their job and interactions with members and do what is best for the organization. The management team encourages staff input on improving processes, project planning and growth opportunities for the Chamber.”

Sounds like it might be culture shock after hanging around here for the last year.

oh – and by the way – my money is on the fact that the number of plumbers, coffee shop owners, bankers and realtors you meet in the new gig outnumber the Strip Club Owners and Casino Execs by more than 100 to 1.

Thanks TF. Needless to say I will be discussing the Chamber on Wednesday, and here’s a shock, I’ve already humiliated myself.

Sorry about the show notes guys. Totally my fault. Meant to write them when I got home, but instead I fired up Guitar Hero. You’ll get the jist of it.

The Minnesota Wild. 5-0. Unbeaten. Untied (although you can’t tie any longer in in Hockey can you)

You know I was a pretty big fan of college OT until watching LSU and Boise. Jesus Christ. It’s like an 8th grade made up an XBOX Madden Rule.

I must say that I hate when an NFL team wins the flip and then proceed to kick an FG straight away without the other team getting fair ups.

I also hate the THOUGHT of the Tommy Dutch ending in a tie at end of regulation. We tied…let’s all float around like angels.

Why not a hybrid in which they play a shortened “quarter”? Say five to seven minutes. Maybe the coinflip team and eat up that whole clock…maybe not, but it adds the chance that the other team might be the ball back even if the first team scores.

Four posts in a row. I’m hitting for the cycle here.

I asked my wife who grew up in San Francisco and she called suicides “kamikazes” when she was little. No wonder the rest of the world hates America.

I can imagine some dude from the Middle East working at 7-11 watching two punkass white suburban 3rd grade jerks saying to himself these assholes think they’re “kamikazes” or it’s “suicide” to mix Mr. Pibb and Fanta? I’ll show them.

Show notes. Bah, these notes don’t give the true feel of the show with Tommy – my name ain’t really Dutch – Dutch muttering and making up words while Brian keeps each and every show focused and going…going…umm, what was he saying?

Why don’t you just have Tony put up some video of Steve Martin juggling cats, some video from The Jerk, or some such madness? Now that would be cohesive and coherent.

I remember back in the mid eighties Kansas and K St. were the joke of the Big 8. One year, maybe around ’86, they played each other and both were 0-8 going in… and they tied. Talk about a Hollywood script.

    Cebu,

    Another boxing fan??? I’m in!

Hatton vs. Mayweather is unfortunately just another fight that is being made for money even though it is not really competitive. The only fight Hatton has fought at 147 is Collazo and Hatton made out with a VERY tough decision. Mayweather makes Collazo look amateur. Mayweather is going to win this fight however he wants, if Hatton wants to bang Mayweather can hang with a banger (see Judah who is faster and stronger than Hatton) and if Hatton wants to try to box there is nothing he will be able to do because Mayweather is the best in the game. I’m excited for this fight because it is one of the few fights in the boxing game that is IMPORTANT, but I don’t see it as being competitive.

Calzaghe deserves every bit of praise he has received. Lacy was a murderer at 168 and he beat him like he caught him stealing. I can’t wait to see him and Kessler fight it out.

Keep it coming man! I love to talk boxing with any other fan.

    brandon,

Thanks man :) love talking boxing! Off the top let me just say I despise Zab Judah (along with the rest of the boxing world) That being said I think Hatton has a better chance though not at strong or as fast as Judah since he doesn’t take nearly as many risks. Though, unfortuntely, his style is the perfect style for Mayweather to show off his skill set and, hey, that ‘dancing with the stars’ footwork might even make him more nimble than ever before :)

Cotto-Mosley is a tough one to call though I think you’re on the right track with Cotto. I’m not sure if Mosley can bring it to the table one more time though I don’t know, outside of Mayweather, if any boxer comes in better condition to his fights. Mosley’s veteran savvy will be the deciding factor for me in this fight. He is a patient boxer and will pick and choose the spot to come in. He has been in there with some of the best in his era and knows what to do to win a fight. Cotto, on the other hand, has elevated his level of competition in every fight he has had and this one should be no exception. I have no doubt Cotto will eventually be in the upper echelons of the P4P list in time. If Mosley decides to come in and trade punches with Cotto then he’ll get acquianted with the new ring at MSG real fast. If he keeps a cool head and his ring generalship he should be able to eke out a win. I’m holding off on a prediction until a little later in camp to see how they’re doing but if i have to pick early I’m taking Cotto as well. Hunger in boxing is unlike in any other sport and he will take it to Shane from the opening bell.

who else thinks BMo should wear an “Embrace Your Inner Degenerate” Tshirt on his first day?

  28. colonel mick mars
    October 16, 2007 | 5:39 am

The Colonel, not only is an ardent listener of the knuckleheads, but in reality a real life guitar player. I understand the call guitar hero has on young Brian, only in my case it is a real stratocaster, and fender super sonic amp, alone in the garage endlessly banging out highway star and N.I.B (a theoretical mofobes music trivia moment, who does the song N.I.B.)and anyone of 50 other songs that our rickety band plays.
and to prove it you will feel the wrath of my six strings of slow handed fury on the phone message thing one of these days.
so take that you John Mayer lovin rolling stone reading hippie.

P.S. the next T shirt should say “and they have a good poker room”

Sweet ax Colonel. Mine is red, made of plastic, and has multi colored buttons instead of strings. But I did knock out a 5 star review on Freebird, so I think I know where you’re coming from.

And say what you will about John Mayer, but “Your Body Is A Wonderland” is our generation’s “Stairway”.

I love my gifts! I’ve got my inner degenerate shirt on right now while I go back and forth between the Jalapeno chips and Cheez-It’s in my hand. Love the pen. It doesn’t work but it’s mine and I love it. Thanks Cebu the stuff from you is beautiful.
Now on to more important things like Brian’s balls. (lol)
Now that you’ve taken the dive into the smooth end of the pool you have to maintain that. Mach 3′s are for little girls. You need a Schick Quattro. If you do that routinely I bet that your wife will love it. Trust me. Most women do. You gotta love the aero-nautically correct.
I’m going to put together a package for you guys too. It’ll be fun. Kind of Fyre and Stripper travel to Not Iowa. You’re gonna love this……
    P.S.
Like a true inner degenerate I have to re-gift the Japanese porn. I love porn, but that girl is entirely too young and looks like she’s not even in good pain.

  34. brandon
    October 16, 2007 | 12:28 pm

Cebu, I think you’re dead on about the fight and I have a very hard time picking the winner too. In Mosley’s favor is the fact that he is coming down from 154 where he KO’ed Vargas who is no glass jaw, so now he’s gonna have the power and more speed at the lighter weight. His conditioning is phenomenal (with or without the ‘roids) and there are not many out there who have his natural talent, in fact Mayweather may be the only one.

However, I think he has been losing a step or two with time, and eventually that’s going to catch up with him. And Cotto is one of the most relentless fighters there is. I see Cotto throwing murderous body punches from the opening bell and eventually breaking down Mosley by about round 9. I’ve slowly come around to Cotto, after the Torres fight I thought he was a little one-dimensional and that if he ever ran into a boxer who had enough size to stand up to him he would get killed. I picked Malinaggi to win thinking he was too slick for Cotto, and Cotto broke his face (although Paulie put up a hell of a fight). I picked Quintana to win thinking his size and boxing skills would let him control the fight, and Cotto made him quit in 5 rounds. I thought that Judah had way too much speed and power and that it would be a bloodbath, and Cotto knocked him out in the 11th. His hunger for it is just too much and I don’t think that Mosley will be able to match it.

I think it’s going to be a great fight though, probably the best of the big fights that are coming up.

PR, it’ll be no small task to beat SA. But both Fiji and Argentina showed SA are beatable. If the Argies hadn’t made so many mistakes it’d been a different gaem.

You can’t afford to turn the ball over and give space to the likes of Habana, he’s just too quick.

I would suggest putting the kitchen sink on Baylor this week. I don’t know who they are playing but I’m sure they will be fired up and ready to win one for their o-line coach who pissed all over a bar at a Waco drinking establishment. If youre team can’t get pumped up over public urination than what is the point of playing the game.
