Katie Reese Is Big-timing Us

It’s another weekend in Vegas full of big musical guests, hilarious comedians, and of course child pornographers.

Topics of the day include an old west shootout in the Big Apple, the heat slowing down travelers, midgets in a box, an update on Miss TAI, recommendations on where to get a great meal and a Super Squishy, and the #17 property in Vegas revealed.

Take a look at post 71 from the last show to findout why this show is late.

Mark it down – Trainfan and the Mrs. will be rolling in on August 19th and staying at the Venetian. There is No way I’m missing being in town when the Isle of Man comes to visit.

Even after that disgusting blown save on a WILD PITCH that cost me the game last night, I’m still up a few bucks and totally obsessed with betting baseball. Soooooooo…

    My play for Sunday:

    Angels -200 over Rangers

I realize there is very little value on betting either side in this game, but I have to watch it for work, and these games are always much more interesting when you have a ticket in your pocket.

    whit,

Are you familiar with Neteller? The company is located on the Isle of Man, and today is the day they are supposedly releasing the customer funds that they have been holding for months. I have a couple thousand that I have pretty much written off, but it would be a nice bonus if they actually came through.

Just curious if you have any knowledge of the company or peoople involved.

Good-bye (Last-New)Frontier. The strip’s oldest casino closes at midnight.

scott j. I don’t know much about Neteller except what i’ve read in the local paper. The lsle of man is full of off shore banks and they are watched by a governing body, am sure you’ll get your money back.

There’s absolutely no way that the dude at the hot dog eating contest knows which character in the last Harry Potter book dies. The level of security surrounding the printing and distributing of the books is so incredibly high. I believe in the case of the last book released, employees at the printing factories were only allowed to handle one, small, particular section of the book so as to keep details from being leaked to the public before the release date. I’m sure something similar, or even more strict, is being implemented for the release of this last book. The full copies of the book were then locked in large metal containers until being shipped. The guy at the hot dog eating contest was just trying to stir up some controversy. He may be right, but it would be merely cooincidental. There are probably only two people in the world at this moment who know the exact details of the final book, the author and her editor.

Go ahead and rip on me for knowing to much about Harry Potter. I blame my mom for making me read the first one when I was in the 7th grade, I’ve been hooked ever since… It will be nice to finally be done with the entire story after this next weekend.

Btw, the movies are horrible representations of the books. I took my sister to see Order of the Phoenix (I like the books, but she’s obsessed), and not only do they leave out important details from the book, but the acting was terrible. I can’t recall any movie in which the actors didn’t make me believe they were the character they were portraying. It was actually painful to watch.

I think God is teaching me a valuable lesson about gambling. This is my 3rd srtaight game that I’ve had the winning team only to have a “shut down pitcher” blow it and go to extra innings. Luckily, I rarely listen to messages from God unless they’re being screamed at me by my mentally ill neighbor.

Geeez guys, you’re dumb. Cat lady asks where she and her friends can drink cheap. Duh, take the hint. Scores of TAI fans have bought you two tightwads drinks, but do you big timers think to offer a freekin beer to one of your three female fans?? If you don’t buy Cat lady and all her friends a drink, several of us are going to be “very disappointed.”*
In addition, you should have advised Catlady that if she sits at at any bar on the strip with her top three buttons loose while playing with the straw of her diet coke, she will drink free all night. Keep up the good work boys.

Well I’m with the boys on this one they provide us with 3 shows a week of entertainment for nothing I think its only right that we buy them a drink there aint many shows where you can go out for drinks with the hosts I’m goin to buy them a drink or 8 when I’m there.

    July 16, 2007 | 3:37 am

The answer of course is that we can not buy cat lady booze, and it has nothing to do with being cheap or us “deserving” free drinks. Last time Dutch bought a drink for a female listener, she was never heard from again, and we can’t afford to lose another listener.

Dutch, Thanks for reading the first part of the book.

You know Brian, printers are really nice things…especially if you print at work and use company ink.

Arizona football practice is pretty bad. All you can do is pray for a giant monsoon storm to roll in for night practice. Once you make it through FOUR years of it, you can go through anything. 110 degrees still on Halloween. Freaking brutal.

Top 5 Happy Hours as requested.

You can get cheaper drinks and some really cheap food at some fun places.

    1. Silverton Hotel’s Shady Grove bar (free shuttle from MB if you don’t have a car.)
    2. Pink Taco at Hard Rock, 1/2 off apps. 1/2 off Margs.
    3. Maggiano’s in Fashion Show mall
    4. Cafe Babbareeba in Fashion Show mall
    5. 777 at Main St. Station near downtown casinos

Overall cheap place to drink is downtown. 99 cent margs at Fremont. Many other cheap swill deals down there.

    Dutch,
A little late from a previous show but i thought i should mention that i caught a Florida Panthers game last December. I must say before buying the tickets that i wasn’t aware how far the stadium was from Miami (we were staying at South Beach) so i had to hire a car to get out to the stadium. Luckily for me there was an mall at Sawgrass Mills near the stadium otherwise the missus would have chucked a hissy fit. We had a packed stadium unlike your experience but that might have had something to do with them playing the Rangers which is why we went there in the first place.

Finally Barry Bonds says something that makes sense,

“Bonds had a second straight 0-for-5 performance to extend his hitless stretch to a season-worst 20 at-bats, and his San Francisco Giants lost their 11th in a row at home to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-3 on Sunday.

“It’s an embarrassment for me to be wearing this [expletive deleted] uniform ’cause of the way I’m playing. There, that’s it. Now go away,” Bonds said at his locker.

Then he overturned the cart as he walked through the clubhouse, a rare public display of emotion with his chase of Hank Aaron’s home run record at a standstill. He’s been at 751 homers and four from tying the Hammer since July 3.”

Nice show boys. I’m making a trip to Las Vegas on Thursday. Don’t worry about arranging a meet up. I’m from a red state so I’m sure I would not be able to understand all them fancy blue state words you would be using. Just like I’m not smart enough to understand the highly sophisticated comedy of Lewis Black. It’s not that I don’t like you guys. If you happen to see me in town be sure to stop me and say hello. Make sure you talk real slow so I can understand. You will recognize me because I will be carrying a football, drinking a beer, and wearing overalls. If it’s after 6 I’ll also be wearing a shirt.
Brian, I have listened to lots of your podcasts. I always thought you might be better if you had someone else to talk to. I was wrong. You do much better on your own. Sorry T I just don’t find you very entertaining. I’m sure my opinion won’t bother you much since I am one of those red state people who just can’t get it.
BTW I have always thought Lewis Black was great. That must be just because I couldn’t understand what he was saying.

Ok, so I had a bit of a rollercoaster betting weekend. I didn’t mind the losses so much, but my heart can’t taken anymore of these blown saves. That being said, here’s my play for today:

    Indians -177 over White Sox

This is a bit of a revenge pick after Saturday night’s shit fest, but it’s also a bet for Cliff Lee who at times this season has looked like he’s found the fountain of youth. Plus, Cleveland just gave Eric Wedge a 3 year contract extention, so he’s gonna manage the shit out of this game!

I have sooo much to say about this show!

First off, BMo’s got me cracking up over not knowing how anything works. I became an engineer because I love to know how everything works, especially air planes. And yet you, like my fiance, has no interest in knowing whatsoever. I have a funny feeling that I’ll be having the typical “why’d you break that? Don’t you know how it works?” argument with my wife while she’ll be telling me “I don’t care how it works, but fix it because now it’s broken” every time. Looking forward to it :)

Dutch, The Tillerman is absolutely fantastic! I had an awesome meal there with 8 of my closest friends a couple years back and we just couldn’t believe how good everything was. The Alaskan King Crab was to die for and the staff was on the ball and amusing at the same time. Highly recommended!

Finally, I work for a company that has a factory in Springfield, TN. I gotta tell you, if that town ends up winning the “vote” (which I’ve also heard of) it’ll probably be the one and only accolade ever bestowed upon that useless lump of land. There’s nothing there except a railroad track that somehow manages to cross every road of importance. You know what, BMo? I’d rather be stuck in western Kentucky…

BMo – Great visual I got when you were discussing what your role would have been during the NY/NY shooting. I immediately flashback to the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza pushes the kids and old lady out of the way during the fire at the kids’ birthday party.
Dutch – Somehow I think not only did your emails get forwarded to her “management team”, but somehow the FBI as well.

I’ll be in town August 5-10; if there are any other listeners that will be in town that week hopefully we can have a meet-up.

after listening to fridays episode wherein the Wynn hotel did not make Brians list of 25 ( say whaaaat ?? ), And we the listeners were invited to prognosticate the top five. I am submitting my theory as to Brian molicas top five.

#5–Circus circus… A sentimental favorite of brians. And further exploration only unearths uncomfortable memories.

#4–The Klondike…Although this south strip gem is now gone, It proudly operated in the face of the megaresort. with walls so permeated with cigarette smoke, it actually became a construction material, dispensing 20 years of nicotene abuse in just minutes.

#3-Slots of fun… A five tool player in the casino game. boasting Super cheap drinks. Giant weiners…. need I say more. And Vintage slot machines, complete with elderly, westward ho jacketed, cigerette danglin, oxygen take inhalin players.

#2–The Aztec inn…Nestled in the armpit of the stratosphere, a short walk through the war zone of the north strip is a small price to pay for the cornocopia of bargains that await the determined degenerate.

#1–The Quickie mart down the street from Brian. An almost artistic melding of form and degenerate function. and like the wynn resort perfect in the smallest detail. Porn…yes, Slots …Yes. 72 ounce squishies for 64 cents, ….as marv albert would say YESSSS.

I have no clue which service problems Tommy is referring to but I have heard some issues with initial activation on the iPhones that were cleared up. The main concern I’ve heard across the board is the fact that AT&T’s network is slow. This I can’t argue much but when I use my iPhone it’s definitely not as slow as some people make it out to be. Then again, the coverage in the Philly area might be better than in other places.

I’ll go on to say that this phone has totally changed the way I’ll ever use a phone in the future. However currently the software on the iPhone needs to have a few minor bugs updated. I won’t go into details about the gripes Thankfully considering every iPhone comes with unlimited data and how many iTunes users there are, Apple/ATT can push out an update whenever they need to.

In the few weekends I’ve owned the phone and I’ve been out at restaurants/bars/movies I’ve had approximiately a dozen strangers come up to me and ask about the phone and every one had the same reaction of, “Wow” once I gave em a quick tour. In short, the phone is quite amazing and (to me) well worth the price tag.

While I’m doing reviews I might as well throw in a quick review of Brian’s comedy CD that should be up in the store soon:

Private Investigator is a live standup act taped back in 2006 of Bmo performing in his home town. After my first listen to the CD with some friends the thing that stuck out in our minds is the fact that Bmo interacts w/ the crowd quite well. He seems very comfortable on stage and has lots of energy throughout the show. Some of our favorite jokes included “Y’all come back ya’hear”, the wedding ring joke, and the screaming girlfriend joke. Overall everyone that listened to the CD had a good laugh–I can’t wait to hear Bmo’s next CD.

    Brian,
I’m not mad at anybody. I was just being over the top to make a point. When I have heard you guys get political it has always been about the same discussion. Tommy will state his position like without any detail as to why he believes that. Then Brain agrees and you both pretty much conclude that if someone does not agree then they must be stupid. Hey I’m not terribly interested in political commentary from a couple of guys in their 20s living in Las Vegas. It seems like a pretty small part of what you are doing. I think if you want to do politics then give us some reasons why people should agree with you. Surely someone as politically tuned in as Tommy can give us some detail. If you are upset about a failed stem cell research bill then tell us if this means that stem cell research now illegal. Tell us about the many advancements that stem cell research has given us. Tell us something other than “agree with me or you are stupid”. I’m not asking for you to present the other side. Just present a side. If you want to influence people give them a reason to agree with you. I’m all for you going political if you want but don’t half ass it like you have been.
Also, not everyone in the south is a stupid redneck racist. If you say that in the context of being funny it works. If you say that in the context of an attempt to comment on politics you sound ignorant.
I was overly rough on Tommy in my earlier post. He really is not bad. I think he really needs to let us know how he really feels about the “current administration”. I can tell he has a fair amount of rage inside that he is holding back when ever he talks about politics. Let it out man. Rant away.
