I’ll Pay you

While Brian was tucket away in his bed, Dutch, mofobes and the listeners were tearing up the town on a Wednesday night. Tune in to hear the results of the humiliation bet, and why it isn’t always so great to be Tommy Dutch.

Other topics include, Brian’s free peep show, cops want Pacman behind bars, jumping out of airplanes and tiny shrimp cocktails.

Finally, find out why Andre Aggassi is setting up a career after tennis. He’s a preview, she-pimp.

Good show today B-mo and T-Dutch. I like the classic TAI.

Why is the pimp coaching cheerleaders? Talent development, obviously!

B-Mo I guess you’re off the budget now if you’re in the $150 tourneys. Some things never change…

Drinks at the Centrifuge bar – $200
    $60 Rebuy 2am tournament – $240
Tommy Dutch Getting offered head from a guy – Priceless

What a crazy night that was. Way too much fun. Nothing like drinking all night then going to the room taking a shower and catching my flight. I did feel a little strange getting into a cab at the planet hollywood with a corona at 7am.

I can’t wait to go back to vegas again.

Hey guys. I’ve never posted on any message board before, but I had to stop by because I thought today’s episode was the best show yet. It was a perfect example of what I love about the show, and that’s how different Brian and Tommy are. You’re both hilarious (Brian is a great story teller and Tommy is at his funniest when he’s not even trying), but I love hearing the viewpoints between Tommy – a more traditional Vegas swinger type, and Brian – a home body family guy who just happens to live in Vegas. The contrast in the stories of Tommy getting BJ offers while Brian was checking out a topless old lady was outstanding. Sorry for the long posts and keep up the great work.

I think i had more fun that night then i did cashing in the WSOP. I’m still tired, but that’s what weekends are for.

Anyone going to vegas, you have to call mofobes and somehow get patch to meet you there.

    Alright where to begin:
Let me start with this hilarious odd conversation I had with my wife last night. I told her BRIEFLY what had gone down on wednesday night/thursday am. She asked me if I had met up with Brian. I said no, but I met up with Tommy, his Co-Host from his Vegas podcast. My wife has heard the show twice I think while we were riding the car together. She immediately says, “Oh is he the STRAIGHT guy from the show?” I stared at her very puzzled by this question and after about 30 seconds of dead air I retorted, “oh…oh…you mean in a comedic, laurel and hardy sense…yeah right he’s the “straight” guy”.

I’ll apologize in advance for the length of this post. I’m very long winded, but I want to thank yzerman, mofobes and tommy d for all getting together. That was one of the best nights I’ve had in Vegas in a long while. It was an absolute blast.

First of all, I want to set the record straight about the humilation bet. NOBODY did ever show up to face me at the Venetian which was the original bet. I was there for three events. Yzerman did ca$h pretty huge in the WSOP which is SO STRONG and definitely earned the exemption and the I’ll gladly hand him the Title. So after Tommy even said I was going to take a dive you could tell these guys were CLEARLY ducking me. Nevertheless, after we were all extraordinarly soaked in gin we literally ran from the MGM over to the planet hollywood and jumped in the 2am $60 tourney. Fobes and I decided to run the last longer in that donkdick tourney in which the blood alcohol of the 4 of us was threw the roof.

I think there were 3 tables but my vision was awfully blurry. Mofobes and Tommy were at one, Yzerman at another and myself at a third. Even though Tommy mentioned something to the contrary…the play was HORRIBLE. I started by flat out ABUSING my table. I ordered a coffee and got a RAFT of shift from Mofobes for that move. It was ON after that. Shortly thereafter Yzerman went bust for time number one. I didn’t realize it was a rebuy. I did shortly thereafter as he kept yelling out either “cocktail” or “rebuy” every other hand. I kept rolling over my table and I kept running over to Mofobes table and sending him text messages to get him to admire my chip stack or to make sure bestbuy was still open. At one point I had 40 $100 chips on top of several $500 and $1000′s, but I was picking up all the $100′s because I was raising and destroying every pot. After a short while Tommy broke and giggloed on out of there. Yzerman had run word around that the Gilmore Girls was on the line and many people knew of the bet. Basically it came down to a final table showdown, we redrew and I got the seat on Mofobes immediately left which was SO beautiful. There were several VERY cool Australians at the table as well. The table WAS soooo cool and so fun. We had several more cocktails and I got to give Fobes much more shit for ordering a Perrier. Meanwhile, Yzerman keeps pimping the Gilmore Girls (which even the only woman at the table thought would be awful) and tries to get the 4am Chinese Poker game going. The key hand comes down in which I raise Fobes BB ($2000) under the gun to $6000 with the MONSTER pocket fours. I did this just because I wanted to show get people to fold and wanted to show the hand and rub it and tilt him off. Of course the button goes all in. I heard “twelve” and when this went threw my alcohol filter I thought it was $6000 so I threw that in the pot, but it was actually 12k MORE. I had to call after I had made this bushleague drunken mistake. The guy turns over pocket kings. I had no fear with my Reggie Jackson hand. Mofobes is laughing his balls off and LOVING it until the turn FOURBALL hits. Ouch. You feel that sting. We get down to I think 4 handed and my man mofobes went out with a pocket pair to my new Australian mate with a/j. Painful. I “bought” my Aussie buddy a crown/7 that I was drinking. I told him it was the “cadillac of Canadian Whiskey”, but he had never had it. He said there are no Australian whiskeys and they aren’t too big into whiskey there. I’ll ask the our TAI aussie buddys is this true? This guy loved the drink. Our heads up battle was very friendly and it went back and forth for a while with many “PASS THE SUGAR”‘s being yelled out. I finally took down the coveted planet hollywood 2am tournament bracelet AND the last longer.

We then all got in a 2/4 mixed game. It was a blast. We even had some omaha high pots in which everyone capped it preflop and then just ran it out. By the time the sun was coming up it was just mofobes/me/yzerman playing our own version of the “big game” only orders of magitude smaller. I literally left the planet hollywood went to the Monte Carlo changed clothes put on some pitstick, checked out jumped in a cab and BARELY made my 9am flight.

That was a GOLD MEDAL VEGAS NIGHT.

I’ll telling you guys we have to organize more trips like this. Most fun I’ve had in ages.

Damn Boys – what a night it sounds like you had. Patch – that post right there – #7 – should be put up for sale on ebay and let the hotels and the Vegas Tourism bureau bid for the rights to it. If that doesn’t everyone reading it want to jump on a plane – I don’t think you are on the right message board. I’m sure I’ll find plenty of places to jump into that story with questions/comments over the next few days.

In the meantime I was jumping on to give a Thumbs Up to the Monte Carlo choice for the list today. I’ve stayed there two of my last three trips. It is a great basecamp – precisely because it is in a great location – it’s quiet when some recovery time is needed – has a decent pool – the rooms are nice AND you have some spending cash left after you pay for the room.

Unless I’m traveling on the company dime or with the fiance (soon to be wife) It’s one of my top choices as a place to stay. Highly recommended for trips where you are planning on doing a lot of casino hopping – or to use to stretch the budget a little bit without taking a huge drop in class or location. 2 nights at Bellagio or Wynn to splurge and 3 at Monte Carlo for the rest of the trip is not a bad way to go to Sin City. I’ll try and write up more detailed reviews of my stays over at the Friends of TAI site:

I forgot to mention something and I want to poll the audience. I do think at some point in the early am that Mofobes may have mentioned that I have to still buy the Avril Lavigne CD. Maybe I was hallucinating or just was simply drunk. Does this seem fuct to you? Am I getting a raw deal here? Yzerman is clearly THE MAN by his WSOP performance…no question and gets a humilation bet exemption. However, the original bet was to be played at the Venetian, of which I was there and nobody showed up. I didn’t cash but I lasted fairly long in every event. So, in the actual tourney we all play…not only do I last longer than the other two…including the PRO and the donator who rebought an undisclosed amount of times….I actually win the thing and take home the bracelet. After all this, I’m STILL supposed to be the 2nd loser and have to buy and listen to the new Avril Lavigne? Is this truly fair? Trust me I’m not afraid and I’ll pay my dues if justified…I just want to know what you guys think. I’ll make this my own personal poll question.

When I talked about the humiliation on the air, it was based on a text message I received from mofobes stating he was the loser and patch was on Avril detail. I was under the assumption some sort of discussion had taken place. If you 3 all agree the bet should be called off on a technicality, I understand, but I can’t lie, I was really looking forward to hearing mofobes Gilmore Girls review.

First, i want to set the record straight. I was shipping it in blind during the rebuy period. Next i only made 3 rebuys, and both of you two stopped drinking Mr. Coffee and Don Perrier.

I want to hear fobes tell the stories about dutch at the tables in the PH. I head that he was a little not so nice to the other players.

The 2-4 cash game was my favorite part of the poker playing, omaha, omaha8, stud8, razz and 2-7 triple draw.

And I think i’m in love with our english waitress from the MGM. Don’t tell me wife.

Sorry about you getting you in trouble with the girl dutch. I just couldn’t believe that you didnt like fake boobs.

Finally, I think that this needs to become an annual event. Getting really drunk, playing in bad poker tournaments followed by really bad play in cash games and going to my room, showering and taking a flight home.

Also, i dont think that anyone talked about the guy who sits in on the cash game, makes a straight flush when fobes makes the nut full house and it gets caped on the turn and river in the omaha high.

  17. patch406
    June 16, 2007 | 1:09 am

Whoa Whoa Whoa…..WE DEFINITELY DID NOT CALL OFF THE GILMORE BET…that was certainly ON THE LINE and MOFOBES LOST. I was just trying to gain a little sympathy since nobody showed for the original bet and when we actually play, I take the thing down/win the whole tournament and STILL lose. I’m not trying to welch on anything. I’m enroute to the store right now.

This DEFINITELY needs to be an annual event. Let’s start brewing up next year’s Humilation Bet.

That 2/4 game was the best. Some of the play was so hilarious. My personal favorite move was Yzerman calling a raise and then DRAWING FIVE in deuce to seven. Then again he left at 730 am with a fucking ice cold FULL corona. How gorgeous is that?

Ten Excellent TV shows in my opinion (who in the hell really knows if they are the top ten).

    Sopranos
Deadwood (get past the over the top swearing, the dialog is exceptional and hilarious).
Twin Peaks (good call Patch, I almost forgot about this one).
    Cheers
    Seinfeld (except the last episode)
    M*A*S*H
CSI (I know…, but i have to go with Roosterman on this)
    Andy Griffith Show
ESPN Sports Center (not sure it counts as I think the intent was ‘series’ but I am putting it in anyway)
Saturday Night Live (on the whole over 30 years)
UPC (Joining in the movement for a little support for the host!)

Shows I think I would love but have never watched:
Chasers War (thanks for the Clip Tony)
    Curb your Enthusiasm
    Entourage

Suggestion to hosts for a different pole in the future: Top five (ten makes our collective heads hurt I think) most “influential” shows.

i could not make the venetian tournament due to circumstances beyond my control. my car would not start, was out of commission for 2 days and i live 25 miles from the strip (i have mechanic receipts to prove the work was done.)

the venetian events run thru the end of the month, so i would propose that if i play in one those and last longer than patch did in his events, he still has to get the avril cd. i concede the gilmore girls because although drunk, i did agree that the PH tourney would determine who would have to watch it.

patch, do you know how many players there were and where you finished in the venetian tourneys you played in?

Fobes if it was your understanding that we were playing for 2nd as well then I’ll buy the CD no question. Expect a detailed review within 72 hours. I’ll do it for the good of the team, not because I’m a closet fan. I feel like Ned Flanders cutting his lawn in a dress. Can’t wait to hear Fobes voicemail version of the events.

As far as Yzerman goes…the rest of you guys definitely need to hear some of his WSOP tales. They’re great. After I had met the guy for all of about 30 seconds he lays a line on me something to the tune of, “Jesus Christ man, Dewey Tomko got in my fuckin’ head!!!”. Hey B-Mo and Tommy, i’ve been listening to the show since about the Circus Circus review. Just wanted to say that the last show was definatly one of the best. Hey B-Mo, loved the story about the milf showing off her goods. I thought I had an odd experience last Monday. While I was mowing my lawn, my neighbor, who is maybe in her 40s was watering here trees and I thought she seemed to be making a show of it for me, but who knows. Not as good as your, but thats what I get for living in suburbia.

My first and only trip to vegas was 14 years ago when I was just 13. I remember hearing that they had just had some floods and thats why we only got like 5 channels and the TV. And since I was 13, I spent most of my time in the room with the 5 channels, non of which taught me how to gamble. So the few things I remember from vegas was seeing the very first episode of seinfeld, be told I had to stay along the walls in every casino I was in, eating the same $5 steak dinner at the Stardust 2 nights in a row, and picking an escort service from the phone book and pranking them. Someday I plan to go back, and hopefully soon.

So sorry for the long post

Someone please tell me that paying off my credit card debt is a much better choice than driving to Vegas and gambling, because I’m feeling left out here. Heck, I can’t even convince myself that it’s okay to go visit my parents and spend a little time in the casinos around Albuquerque.

O.K. I can only hold out of this interleague stuff for so long and eventually a man just has to bet. I took the Yankees on the run line at +110. It’s the opposite of my general philosophy of +1.5 meaning more in a pitcher’s duel. I expect plenty of runs and expect the red-hot Yankees to win by at least 2.

This isn’t the “official” review, but this is my first impression of the new Avril Lavigne album, The Best Damn Thing after listening to it all the way thru:

The album is the musical equivalent of putting a 5’3″ 300# man’s cock in your mouth, swallowing his nasty load AND then paying him for the opportunity.

It really doesn’t matter what your gender or sexual orientation is….it’s torture.

I just passed 2 cops who were hanging out and laughing it up on the side of the road. Then I saw a dude cuffed in the back of the squad car. It’s bad enough you’re getting ass hauled off on a Sunday morning, but did they have to leave him in the car on a 102 degree day? I mean we’re talking about a grown man, not a baby or a dog here.

Yzerman, First, congratulations agaon on your WSOP. Don’t mean to pry, but I am curious to know if you ran up against any big names. Also could you ‘feel’ the level of play become materially better as you approached the final groupings (or was it pretty much like any other tournement).

Yzerman: “What else would you guys like to know?”

Yeah, can you loan me a couple grand?
