The points difference on the Argentian vs Namibia game seems a bit big, especially as Argentina aren’t really a running team, so I’ll take Namibia plus the points and as long as they don’t get someone sent off in the first 20 minutes they look good to keep the score reasonable, lose but within limits.
Scotland have named a vastly changed team and seem to be conceeding the game to New Zealand in order to rest players for the Italy game. So that 46 point gap may not be that bad. It’ll be close though as NZ will also rest players. Of my weekend bets this is the one I can see not coming off. It will be an easy NZ win though.
Finally I’ll take England to win and also a seperate bet to cover the points, purely as the Samoan team will be without there goal kicker and are under just as much pressure as England after losing to Tonga.

If convicted, the singer could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for each count,

Ok guys, a question for you. I’m looking to book a trip to Vegas for the end of the year. So in order to fit in with my work responsibilities (and as I don’t get paid for holidays being self employed, save me money) I’m looking at late December (Christmas).
Now I’ve done New Years in Vegas before – in fact I did a run of 5 straight New Years, but I’m getting a little tired of that (a sure sign I’m getting old no doubt).
So if I’m looking to be there in the week over Christmas what can I expect? I did go last year in the week between Christmas and New Year with the latest Bobbette and that was a good trip, but is the week before Christmas any better or worse than that?
Also, I’ll take a hotel recommendation – my last 2 trips I’ve stayed at Treasure Island and before that I’ve done most of the centre strip places (Flamingo, Ballys, Ceasars, Paris, MGM). Now I don’t spend that much time in the room so clean and comfortable is fine.
Also, I’ll spend maybe 1 to 2 nights downtown during the stay and rather than do the taxi thing (which is a real pain early morning) I’m going to book a hotel. Is it worth considering anywhere other than the Nugget?
Stay length will be 7-10 days depending on what I find myself doing in late December, but I’ll be leaving on 30th Dec at the latest.
The thought of Def Leppard with Foreigner supporting gave me major ‘I wish I was in Vegas pangs’. That would be so sweet. Shame its 11 months ’til my next vegas fix.
jimmymac – Don’t be too quick to judge. We don’t know the whole story behind the so-called “raping”. For all we know, he could’ve had a relationship with a 17 year old girl, which isn’t really that bad, and they could’ve been caught being intimate by the girl’s father. The father could’ve freaked out, scared his daughter into saying she didn’t really want it, and then pressed charges. Or, he could’ve been at a party, gotten a bit drunk, and hooked up with a drunk 17 year old girl, who freaked out the next day and cried rape. We all know that alcohol leads to bad decisions sometimes. It’s highly doubtful we’ll ever know the whole story. I’m not defending the guy, I just want to point out that there may be things we don’t know. Now, what we do know is that it was a first and only offense. He hasn’t been convicted of repeating the act since he was locked up. I don’t feel it’s fair to say he doesn’t deserve to have it over looked. Think about this: A young woman (late teens/early 20s) has a major drug problem. She gets caught and sent away to do time. She gets rehab treatment and frees herself from the need for drugs. When she gets released, she makes a huge effort to get her life back on track. She moves away to a new city and tries to find a job, but all the jobs do background checks. They won’t hire her because she had a drug problem and was sent away. Is it fair to her that she made some really stupid mistakes in the past? She did her time in jail and rehab and is trying to start over, but no one is willing to give her a chance. Now, it’s not on the same level as the possibility of being deported, but I think the principle is the same. I think people who made a mistake once deserve a second chance. It’s the people who constantly get second, third, fourth, etc… chances and go right back to bad, old habits who don’t deserve that sympathy.
And strangely I feel like sharing my ‘Vegas Massage’ story.
A few years back I was in Vegas and I’d been playing for a few hours at a combination of Blackjack and Let It Ride table, namely the high chair one which as I’m reasonably tall means I had to lean forward and sip with an arched back. After 5 or 6 hr this can get a bit painful in the shoulder. Now I also suffer from a back back every so often and as a way of curing the problem I’ve been known to under go physio and even a touch of massage.
So, feeling a bit sore I head out of the casino (I think it was the Luxor) and head to the taxi rank. I get into the taxi and he asks me where I want to go, I start to tell him I want to head to my hotel but halfway through the booze makes me change my mind and I say is there a massage place he can recommend (and yes I now realize how bad this sounds). He asks me what I’m looking for and I say something along the lines of “anywhere – just somewhere that can help with the stiffness” I may have also mentione the word “relief” but only in turns of back pain, honest. He tells me he knows just the place and off we go.
He takes me to a place near the Sahara and tell me this is “just what I’m looking for”, he even offers to wait for me. Thinking what a nice guy he must be I head in.
Inside I’m met by an oriental looking woman who asks me what I want. I state my request for a massage and she call for some of the girls to come out. I’m now presented by three women and asked which I’d like. Now as it’s late (2am ish) I assume this is because it a quiet time and pick a very plain looking girl (I am there for medicinal purposes after all). I’m told a price and pay up.
I’m lead to a room, strip and lie face down on the table, covered with my towel. In comes my masseuse who proceeds to rub my back. All in all I’m thinking this is a pretty bad massage. She’s not asked where the pain is and isn’t even checking for areas of muscle stiffness.
After about 3 minutes of random prodding she tells me, in broken english, to turn over. Still believing she’s a professional (of the massage variety) I do as I’m told. It’s at this point her hand goes straight under my towel and I find myself man-handled (not the correct term, but it’s funny) and I’m asked if “I want rub there”. Obviously being english (and only being there for a real massage) I’m a little shocked about this. The rush of blood to my face has stopped anything happening anywhere else and I squeak a quick no. In under a minute I’m mostly dressed and back in the taxi and asking to be taken to my hotel and my girlfriend.
When I get in I’m still very red in the face (and being english I’m a nice shade of light blue by nature and need a week in the sun to go white) I’m asked what’s happened. I tell the story and watch as she rolls round the floor in hysterics and then calls me an idiot (sadly this is true).
Of course a day later as me and my girlfriend get in the taxi who do I see but the same guy who drove me to the massage place. As I pay he leans over and tells me when I dump the moose he knows a whole load of better places he can take me to out of town. I think this was the only time in Vegas I haven’t tipped.
